Courts Reopened

17:15  16:47

The Brimbank City Council have this morning advised our secretary that the tennis courts at Sassella Park have Council's permission to open, in line with current Covid-19 rules and restrictions. Please refer to the Victorian Government website before you attend the facility, as rules can change.
https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/sport-and-exercise#what-outdoor-facilities-are-open

There are strict rules, as noted in the link above, and it is your responsibility to ensure that you are up to date with these rules, especially in regards to the number people that can gather at the courts who are vaccinated or unvaccinated. Only a limited number of players can use the courts and no spectators please.

IF YOU ARE UNWELL PLEASE DO NOT USE THE COURTS AND GET TESTED FOR COVID-19.

Take care.

Best Regards,
On Behalf of the,
Committee,

Reminder - Courts Closed

14:37  16:47

The club has been informed that people have been accessing the courts.
Please note that the courts are still CLOSED in line with Covid-19 restrictions and you face heavy penalties if you access and use the tennis courts.
The club will need to have permission from the State Government and the Brimbank City Council have to sign off on the club's updated Covid-19 Safe Plan before you or anyone can safely access the tennis courts.
Again, you run the risk of being fined over $5,000 per person if you access the courts unlawfully.

We will officially advise all members when the courts are open and approved for use by the Brimbank City Council.

Best Regards,
On Behalf of the,

Working Bee - Sunday, May 21 from 11:30am

22:17  22:22

On Sunday 21st May, from 11.30am, the club will be re dressing courts 1 & 2 with more sand.

It is a substantial amount of sand and we would like as many competition players as possible to help out the committee and coaches to re dress these courts.

ALL COURTS WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL THESE WORKS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED.

A number of players have observed that courts 1&2 need more sand so we will order the required amount of sand to ensure that all our members enjoy using these courts, however we really do need you to help out.

We estimate that the works will take a few hours to dress with around 12-15 people, so please make an effort to come down to the courts this Sunday, even for 45 minutes or so. If we share the work load then the job will be completed quickly. We expect that these works should be completed on Sunday. Then we can all enjoy using these courts for both social, competition and coaching sessions.

So please make a note in your schedule to pop down to the club this Sunday 21st May from 11.30am.

Oh, and if you have a wheelbarrow or shovel to bring down, then we will put it to good use!

Courts 1 & 2 - resurfacing starts next week!

19:54  20:02

The resurfacing of courts 1 & 2 will start next week (Monday, April 18) and is expected to continue until the end of the week after (Friday, April 29).

During this time, we'll only have 4 courts available for play - players may need to share courts more than normal and may occasionally need to wait for a court to become available.

Please make sure you follow the normal club rules for court usage:

When courts are full and members are waiting to use the courts

  • there is to be NO singles play
  • you must offer to play doubles or leave the court
  • play is limited to one 6 game set or no more than 30 minutes (whichever happens first)
  • juniors have priority from 4pm until 6pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings
  • seniors have priority after 7pm

Courts 1 & 2 are getting resurfaced!

19:12  19:14

Our synthetic grass courts 1 and 2 have served us well over the years – with thousands of sets played on them – but they’re coming to the end of their useful life.

So we’re going to be resurfacing them with a brand new synthetic grass surface soon (most likely in April), made possible by a $22,000 contribution from the Brimbank City Council, $15,000 from the club’s own funds and a $7,000 loan from two of our committee members.

The resurfacing is expected to take up to 2 weeks to complete, so courts 1 and 2 will be out of action for a short while – once we know exactly when it’ll happen, we’ll let everyone know.

If you have any questions, see Chris Wootton or email the club at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Court 1 and 2 light globes to be replaced this week

07:42  07:43

Our lighting contractor will be replacing the light globes that have failed on courts 1 and 2 later this week.

Thanks for your patience over the past few weeks - the delay in replacing the light globes has been due to the unavailability of the right globes in Australia.

The Deer Park Tennis Club is one of the rare clubs in the Western Suburbs area to contain three different court surfaces at the one venue.

Courts 1 and 2 are synthetic grass.

Courts 3 and 4 are synthetic clay.

Courts 5 and 6 are plexipave courts (hardcourts).
